Sunday First

This morning we had another first with Luke. We have taken him to church a few times but he has always gone to our class with us. Today he went to the nursery! It was the first time anyone outside of family has kept him. I was a little nervous and teared up. I am such a softie! Luckily another couple in our class, Ben and Amy, came in right behind us with their daughter Avery. So, Luke and Avery went to their class for the first time together. We picked him up after Sunday School, probably more for me than for Luke. The teachers said he did great. I know I am going to have to get used to leaving him. Pretty soon I will be leaving him at day care everyday. As much as I missed the little guy it was so great to be back with our friends in class. On the 5th Sunday we always have dedicated prayer time instead of a lesson. It was a great day to go back!

Luke loves to sleep the only problem is he must not like the prospect of going to sleep. Lately he has been fighting his naps even though it is so obvious that he is exhausted. This afternoon he was doing just that when I started bouncing him up and down while he was crying and then leaned him against me. He just conked out! It was so funny. He did not look comfortable at all to me so Paul took this picture. We put him in his swing for the rest of his nap.

Saturday Social

Saturday night we went to a Sunday School care group social at our friends Mike and Michelle's. Our Sunday School class is pretty large so we are broken in to smaller care groups. We get together several times a year. We made personal pizzas and played games. It was fun because most of the time we don't get to hang out with everyone's kids. Luke wasn't the youngest one there. Aiden is only 5 weeks old. He was so cute.

Fun Friday, Part II

We had our friends Cam and Christina and Katherine and Emma over for dinner. Rico was out of town on business so he couldn't join us. We missed him! We tried to get the MacLean's to bring their boys but they say they are "too wild". I guess we will find out about wild boys soon enough! We grilled burgers and had hoped to be outside more but since the weather didn't cooperate we were stuck indoors but we all had a great time. Emma is such a big girl now. She is walking and in to everything! It is hard to believe how fast they grow. Luke was great and loved all the attention! We know he and Emma will be playmates for years to come!

Fun Friday, Part I

We had a very fun, busy Friday. My friend Virginia and her mom came and brought lunch from Chef's Market. Luke slept most of the time they were here but woke up just in time for me to snap a pic of him and Virginia. It was great catching up with them. After they left we had to get busy getting ready for fun Friday night!

Rise and Shine!

The past few mornings Luke has been so sweet when I have gone in when he has woken up. He has slept 7-9 hours this week which has been wonderful! I turn the light on and say "Good Morning Luke"! He starts grinning big and kicking his legs and flailing his arms. It is so cute! It brought tears to my eyes the first morning he did it. I tried to capture his gleeful smile this morning.

Fun Day

Luke and I had such a fun day today and we didn't even leave the house except to go to the mailbox! He was in a really playful mood most of the day. We took a couple of videos and lots of pictures. It is starting to hit me that I return to work in less than a month and I need to relish every minute at home with him. Paul went to guy's night with our Sunday school class tonight so my mom came to keep Luke and I company. We had a good visit.

Luke's First Easter

Luke had a very busy first Easter. It started last weekend when we took him to see the Easter Bunny. He did really well and didn't even cry! He got sleepy though. Yesterday we had lunch and spent the afternoon with Kelly's family. Luke didn't really get to take a good nap so he was pretty fussy. We have learned it is very important to try to keep him as close to his normal schedule as possible. This morning we went to church in Gallatin with the Troutt's. Luke slept the whole time which was an answered prayer! I think he was making up for yesterday because he slept most of the afternoon away while everyone else enjoyed Easter lunch and the egg hunt. The Easter Bunny brought Luke "The Velveteen Rabbit" which was one of our favorites growing up. He also got "Pat the Bunny" and "Guess How Much I Love You" from his grandmothers. His library is growing rapidly which is wonderful.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our friends Brock and Cynthia on the birth of their latest addition. Baby Girl Brewer was born last night. She weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and is 18 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well. Can't wait to hear what name they decide on! Eli and Bella are the proud big brother and sister.

A Good Night Sleep

Last Friday night Paul and I decided it was time to move Luke to his room. We were pretty nervous because he had progressed to sleeping 6-7 hours consistently every night and we weren't ready to give that back up. Well, so far so good. Luke has done great! He has had a couple of 5 hour nights but all in all we have been pleased. Paul and I have temporarily moved to the guest bedroom across from Luke but hope to move back to our room this weekend.

Luke has also developed a little routine during the day which is great. We get our play time in everyday but he is a great napper. Surprisingly we have learned the better he naps during the day the better the nighttime is.

Luke loves to smile! It takes very little encouragement to get a big grin from the little guy. He is hamming it up this morning before we head out to do some errands. He has also discovered his hands in the past couple of weeks and likes to put them in his mouth which drives Mom crazy!

March Madness

It is hard to believe that March is over halfway over. That can only mean one thing...March Madness! Even though football is our first love Paul and I both enjoy college basketball. Paul is teaching Luke all about it. As you can tell he is really in to it. We are cheering on Nashville's own Belmont Bruins against the no. 2 seed Duke Blue Devils. The Predators are also playing the Red Wings at home so there will be a lot of back and forth tonight. The other picture was taken Sunday before Paul and I went on a date night. It is crazy how fast the little guy is growing and changing.

Ok, Anonymous, here you go....Luke with his AU garb. He will be one confused little fella come football season in the Troutt house! Paul and I have already said we don't care where he goes to college as long as it isn't Alabama!

A Little Late....

Ok, so these pictures were taken when Luke was 3 weeks old and he is now almost 11 weeks old. I am a little behind with my pictures, to say the least! Paul and I weren't planning to be in any pictures but when the photographer got here she convinced us to be in some. That explains why neither Paul nor I were dressed for the occasion. It is hard to believe we will be getting his 3 month pictures made in just a couple of weeks.

Thursday Happenings

Luke and I had a pretty eventful day today. First of all it was absolutely beautiful outside. It was gorgeous and 72 degrees! We took advantage of the nice weather and went to have lunch with Paul. We got to meet several people he works with. They all said Paul was grooming Luke to be an engineer early! This afternoon we went to the park and took a picnic supper. Luke seemed to really enjoy being outside. One of the things we love about where we live is that we are about 5 minutes from a great park. It has a great walking trail as well as picnic areas and ball fields. We agreed that we will be spending many more nights there. Hopefully Spring is right around the corner. After our trip to the park we went to look for an Easter outfit for Luke!

Snow...

Friday night starting about 6 pm we got another good snow. It is now 10 am and it has just stopped snowing. I went and measured it a little while ago and some places measured 7". We have not had a snow this big in a long long time. It brings back some great memories of when Kelly and I were kids growing up, it seems like we got these quite a bit. Below are a few new pictures of Luke. Just so it is clear (because Kelly will make a big deal about it), I dressed Luke and I like his outfit!

Tuesday Tidbits....

Luke and I had a great day today. I don't know if he is still under the influence of the shots he had yesterday or if we have reached a turning point. He took another nap in his bed this morning and a two hour nap this afternoon. It is amazing what all I can get done in a short period of time now. Motherhood brings out my efficient side. After dinner Paul and Luke were playing. Luke has been holding on to objects for a while now but tonight he grasped his John Deere keys and kept shaking them and wouldn't let go. He was squealing with delight, that is until he threw them on the floor! Before that happened I was able to capture a couple of quick pictures. We know Grandpa will be glad to see he will have a new "helper" on the farm!

2 Month Check Up

Today was Luke's 2 month check-up with Dr. Patterson. While at the Dr. he got quite a few shots. Being parents, Kelly and I were worried how bad they were going to hurt him. But she said he didn't do bad at all. The Dr. told us to give him Tylenol for 24 hours just in case he had any kind of temperature or pain from the shots. Well, either the Tylenol or the shots knocked him out. After Kelly got home with him he was out like a light so she decided to put him in his bedroom in his crib and see how he did. He slept for over an hour! We hit a milestone (even though it might have been drug enduced)! He has been sleeping in our room in the pack and play since we came home from the hospital and we have gradually been trying to get him to his room. After he finally woke up to eat he was great during the night.

His weight was 12 lbs. 2 oz., and his height was 22 inches. He is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 25th percentile for height.

Unfortunately we didn't get any new pictures today at the doc's office but I am going to put a few other new ones on here below.

Mom Slept In...

On Saturday morning Luke and I got up and let mom sleep in for a while. I captured a few pictures because he seemed to be in such a good mood. Above are a few of my favorites.

72 Degrees...

Sunday afternoon it got up to 72 degrees. It was absolutely perfect to sit outside for a while. So, of course we had to take Luke out for a little while. Here are some pictures of Luke and I sitting out on the screened porch enjoying the sunshine. As you can tell he didn't last long before he fell asleep.
